Feedback, not ghostwritingMost AI writing tools replace your text. I want reviewers with a point of view who mark what is weak and leave the writing to me. The idea of daemons comes from Maggie Appleton.
My drafts are filesThey live as Markdown next to my notes. The editor should open the file where it is and never import it.
Agents propose, I acceptAn agent may read the draft and propose a change. Only I accept it.
What it does.
Critics with a point of view
Daemons read the draft, each with one job: Devil's Advocate, Concision Editor, Clarity and Structure, or one you write yourself. Their findings sit as tints and comments next to the passage.
Every edit is a diff
A proposed change shows up in the text as struck and added words, with the reason below. Accept it, reject it, or say what to change and get a new one.
A companion for the whole draft
Talk about structure and evidence in a side chat. When the companion rewrites, the result arrives as separate changes you accept one by one.

The file stays the document.
Quill does not store your text. The Markdown file on disk is the document. Comments, suggestions and chats live beside it in a small database.
Write
The editor saves through the server, which checks for conflicts and watches the file, so a change made elsewhere shows up.
Critique
Daemons and the companion run through the Claude command line with limited tools. A critic gets none, a rewrite may only read files. Neither can edit or run commands.
Accept
Quill ties each result to the quoted passage and draws it as a diff. The text changes only when I accept. Agents connected over MCP can propose, never accept or save.
